Q – What are the latest trends in kitchens?
A- As always stains on hardwoods are in high demand, however painted finishes with glazes are also very popular. The new kitchen client is looking for a lot of hidden roll out convenience and storage pieces. If ceilings are high enough and the room large enough cooking area hearth surrounds are also very desirable.
Q – I’ve heard of cement counter tops. Are they practical?
A- Yes, concrete is a practical as well as a “green” choice. It looks great, similar to granite and has the same durable qualitites. Concrete is easily customized to fit any shape as well as your individual taste, and design ideas.
Q- Can a smaller outdated bathroom easily be updated?
A- Certainly, and for a relatively modest budget. There are many products and design features which can be used to make an older bath area “modern”.
Q- Is there an alternative to cold ceramic tile?
A-Dura Ceramic is the answer. It looks and feels like tile, but it is warmer and just a bit more forgiving on feet and dropped items. It is produced from resins and natural quartz and stone. Of course ceramic tile is still a great choice and the floor can be heated underneath for a cozier feel.
Q – What is a logical amount to spend on my new kitchen, hoping to recoup the expense when I sell it?
A – According to the National Kitchen and Bath Association, 10%-15% of the value of your property is a logical guideline for your kitchen renovation project.
